[Update] Shadow of the Colossus Gets a Charming Special Edition Box Set
Update: Shadow of the Colossus Gaius Statue available to pre-order
The Shadow of the Colossus Gaius statue is now exclusively available at Gamestop.com* for $249.99 USD. The statue is limited to only 750 units. Each individually numbered. This meticulously detailed 1:6 scale design features Gaius poised for an attack. Moreover, this is most likely the only Shadow of the Colossus statue being released in North America, so place your order now before it’s too late.
Update: Collector’s Edition available to pre-order
In the UK the Collector’s Edition of Shadow of the Colossus just went live at GAME UK* for £47.99 GBP. The Collector’s Edition comes with a window cardboard box with space to insert the game at the till and includes a 10cm tall Valus figurine. In the UK the Edition is exclusively sold through GAME. If you’re having trouble adding it to the cart, try signing in first. That should do the trick.

Maybe there’s still a chance that Europe will not be left empty handed. For a short time, UK-based retailer GAME listed a Collector’s Edition for Shadow of the Colossus. The promo picture showed the game and a small statue of the first colossus Valus.
Update: Shadow of the Colossus Statue coming in 2018
An officially licensed 15″ tall Gaius Shadow of the Colossus statue will be hitting North America in April / May 2018. Only around 750 – 1000 will be made and the minimum recommended selling price will be in the $229 to $249 USD range. The statue is made using the model from the game and will be made of polystone with a few tweaks to the detailing on the left arm, so they are more resilient. The statue will most likely be exclusively distributed by a “major gaming retailer”. Right now, it’s unclear if the retailer will be offering overseas shipping. Update: Amazon.com shipping internationally
No word has been said on an European release for the Shadow of the Colossus Special Edition. However Amazon.com* is now offering international shipping to select countries outside of the U.S. So if you want to be on the side of being safe rather than sorry later, you should definitely consider pre-ordering the Special Edition now. You can always cancel your pre-order at any time during the preorder period.

At the time of writing Amazon.com* and Gamestop.com* are taking pre-orders for the Special Edition Box Set of Shadow of the Colossus. Like previously announced the Edition will cost $49.99 USD. Unfortunately Amazon does not offer international shipping so for now people who would like to import this Special Edition have to go with Gamestop.
Without saying too much at this point, but Shadow of the Colossus is a true masterpiece. It’s not only the story that makes the game special but also the combination of surrounding and music. It creates a bizarre, one of a time melancholic atmosphere while you travel alone throughout the barren landscapes. But from the very beginning. You play as the young boy Wanda who has to kill 16 colossi that roam the land in order to bring a woman back to life. Besides the main quest there’s not much to do. Maybe that’s one of the secrets of Shadow of the Colossus. It allows you to appreciate the surroundings more intensively and consciously. Even though the world seems quite boring at first sight (mainly because of the color layout) there’s a lot to discover. Thick forests, lonely deserts, huge lakes as well as old shrines and ruins are just a few things to name and let’s not forget about the colossi. They look gorgeous and seeing such massive creatures is simply breathtaking. After killing a certain amount of colossi the game makes you ask yourself: Am I really doing the right thing? Is it okay to kill those friendly roaming creatures for my own selfish purpose? PS4 players will soon be able to address this question, as Sony announced that the game will be released on February 6, 2018.
